Preschool – Letter D

We probably spent far too much time talking about (and eating!) donuts this week, but we had a lot of fun and learned some valuable lessons along the way! This week with The Peaceful Preschool, we focused on two books: If You Give a Dog a Donut and Make Way for Ducklings. My daughter’s favorite book the past couple months has been If You Give a Pig a Pancake, so she fell quickly in love with its counterpart! There is something sweet about the flow of Laura Numeroff’s writing that captivates kids. The simplicity of each sentence that leads you

If You Teach a Kid to “Donut”

This past week we focused on the letter “D” by reading If You Give a Dog a Donut… over… and over… and over again! My kids LOVED this book and asked to read it multiple times a day. Tangent: If you are looking for a great time to read to your kids, breakfast and lunch is an amazing time! Keep a pile of books on your table and work your way through them while your kids eat (Of course make sure you are taking bites between pages… mama needs to be nourished too!!). This is always the time that we

Preschool – Letter C

We’ve had a lot going on the past couple weeks with my husband needing to have extensive ear surgery to remove a large mass that was growing in his middle ear. (Read an honest post about how mommy dealt with this ordeal HERE) With that in mind, we took a little longer on the letter “C” and have been working on it incrementally the past two weeks. This is why I love homeschooling! When life throws you a curve ball… you can just roll with it. Using the recommended book list from The Peaceful Preschool, we started plugging away! Because

C is for “Caps for Sale”

I can’t believe I am even going to admit this… even my husband said he read this book as a child… but I have NEVER read Caps for Sale! Thanks to The Peaceful Preschool, I got to read it for the first time… and many times over! It always intrigues me which books children gravitate towards. The pictures are not flashy and the story line isn’t overly exciting… at least by today’s standard of over-the-top “shock value.” BUT my kids absolutely adored this book! They were asking me to read it several times a day. Perhaps it’s the silly little

Preschool – Letter B

Do you ever find yourself wondering if you are doing enough? That’s how I feel at the end of the week sometimes. Looking back I tend to forget the little things. That is why these posts are so important for me! I’m able to look back at the pictures… and these pictures remind me of how hard I tried and how much these little ones are soaking up. This past week we focused on the letter B. We read a lot of fun books that inspired most of our activities for the week including: Blueberries for Sal, The Bear and

Bunny Hop

We continued our second week of The Peaceful Preschool with a bunny hop! We started our morning by reading The Runaway Bunny and So Many Bunnies: a bedtime ABC and counting book. The kids thought the So Many Bunnies book was hilarious as mama bunny tucked each of her children into “bed.” I had my son tell me each letter and number as mama bunny counted her 26 children and called them all by name. Later in the day, we practiced our fine motor skills. We collected “bunny tails.” My sweet little 21 month old tried her hardest to be
